The image above is not the house; it’s what I see when I look at the house.

On May 29, I purchased the ugliest cape cod cottage in Ross Township which is considered the North Hills area of Pittsburgh. It’s only six miles to the Strip District and Deutschtown where I love to visit the flower shop, butcher, bakery, and the cafe with the best English muffins ever.

THE RENOVATIONS

I’m renovating the entire first floor to have a kitchen/family room with vaulted ceiling, adding a fireplace, powder room in the third-floor finished attic (guest space), and all new doors, windows, master bath and deck. Most of the living is on the main floor, but there is a basement that won’t see me very much.

WHAT’S HAPPENING NEXT:

  1. The new roof, windows, doors, and portico with a drive-up driveway gets underway next week. Before & after always to follow.

  2. Primary bedroom is being done by me over the next week, and the second bedroom will be converted into a walk-in closet before my sister arrives on July 20. What, you forgot I am the queen?

The master bedroom as is…with floor tiles on the wall. Jeez, people. Stop watching HGTV. The inspiration below. I bought a sleigh headboard/footboard and will be painting it creamy white. The final will be posted when it’s, well, final.

The second bedroom as is. The walk-in-closet design below. That’s my 30+ year old dressing table. That girl knows all the secrets. The final will be posted when it’s, well, final.

The kitchen isn’t even a kitchen. It’s a camp site. Let’s just look at the inspiration pictures.

This is the “big room” that will become a new kitchen and family room with a vaulted ceiling, fireplace, French doors leading to a deck with a ramp for Mia (and me) to the ground. Pantry and laundry will be included, too.

The final will be posted when it’s, well, final.
