my successes
Lisa’s first career was as a legal secretary where she served as the sole secretary on two U.S. Supreme Court cases with Dean Erwin Griswold.
Lisa earned a Bachelor of Social Work with honors from George Mason University in Fairfax, and completed nearly all requirements for a Master’s in Public Administration. A move to Florida interrupted her graduate studies, but she continued coursework at the Edyth Bush Institute for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Leadership at Rollins College with a focus on nonprofit management, major gifts, and special event evaluation.
As Marketing Director for Lindsay Lexus of Alexandria, her boss was recognized twice by Lexus for having excellent special promotional ideas [from Lisa] that could be replicated by other U.S. dealers.
At the dealership, she also created a special fundraising campaign for schools requesting sponsorship which equalized schools regardless of socio-economic status
In collaboration with the Alexandria Animal Shelter, Lisa created a promotion to increase cat adoptions by creating a Certified Pre-owned Cat Adoption month to great success. The story was picked up by local media as well as Good Morning America.
During nearly 10 years as a Main Street Director in Florida, Lisa was given a state award for Most Outstanding Main Street Supporter for changing a state law that benefited all non-profits, not just main streets. She earned more awards for her community than any other Florida main street during her tenure.
She secured a commission for artist Derek Gores with Cook Childrens Hospital in Texas.
Lisa has served on multiple nonprofit boards in Florida, and is most proud of co-designing the souvenir coin given to veterans who attend Honor Flight.
